About Hiveology
The beating heart of our company is bees. Truly caring for bees means not just looking after the bees themselves, but also looking after their environment and nature in general. However, when it comes to the beekeeping industry, there aren’t many businesses out there that prioritise nature.
We want better for the industry, so we're going to be the change. We’re not perfect and we have limited resources but we’re working on being the best we can be with what we have. To start this change, we’re offering sustainable FSC certified wood, we’re working towards plastic-free hives, we have carbon neutral shipping, our warehouse runs off electricity from renewable sources, and we’re supporting tree-planting and rewilding efforts both locally and around the world.
In the long run, we want to do more for nature and take our environmental impact a step further. Our long term goals are to cut down on single use plastics and to help back causes to support bees and beekeeping. We even have a dream of one day buying our own woodland here in the UK and using it to focus on creating a wild area for bees, full of pollinator plants. At the moment this is just a dream, but with your support, one day we will make this a reality.
Until then, we’re supporting tree-planting and rewilding initiatives happening both locally in the UK and globally. With every Hiveology purchase, we’re able to contribute more and more to Mossy Earth to help in their efforts to restore and support wildlife and ecosystems. From reforestation and habitat restoration projects to species reintroductions and much more, these rewinding projects do so much more for our world than just planting a couple of trees. It’s helping to improve biodiversity, fight climate change, and create the future that nature deserves.
We want to ensure that caring for the bees in your local area doesn't come at an environmental, social, or economic cost elsewhere in the world. After all, really caring for nature means helping nature across the world, not just in our back gardens. To ensure sustainability both locally and globally, we developed a range of beehives made from FSC certified cedar wood. This wood is sustainably sourced, supporting both the forests the wood comes from and the communities that live and work around the forests.
